BIG DATA ANALYTICS AND PERFORMANCE OF SELECTED MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA

This study examined big data analytics and performance of selected manufacturing companies in Rivers state, Nigeria. Descriptive survey design was adopted with a population of 412 employees as well as a sample size of 243 derived using Taro Yamane formula. Sampling technique used was multi stage (stratified, simple random and proportionate) sampling technique. Data were collected from primary source with the use of questionnaires and analyzed with both descriptive and inferential statistics. Multiple regression, Ordinary least square (OLS) was used for the test of hypotheses. Findings revealed that, all the dimensions of big data analytics (cloud computing, web data analytics and sensor data analytics) have positive significant effect on the performance of Selected Manufacturing Companies in River state. The study recommended that the management should continue adopt and implement the application of cloud computing for enhance performance. Also, the management of the manufacturing firms should ensure appropriate infrastructures for the adoption and implementation of web data analytics to improve decision making, supply chain management and performance. More so, through collaboration, training and complementarities, manufacturers should ensure successful implementation and adoption of sensor data usage to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
