Author Guidelines

Guidelines for Manuscripts

  1. Articles should preferably not exceed 6000 words including table, figures and graphs, using Times New Roman font, font size of 12 point and 1.5 line spacing. Authors should ensure that the contents of very short articles are substantial enough to warrant publication.
  2. All tables, illustrations and figures should be incorporated in the body of the manuscript. The editor reserves the right to reject publication of any submission for which the article is not of an acceptable standard.
  3. Since the AJBAM follows a policy of blind peer review, the article should have a cover page and the cover page should carry the title of the article, authors details, postal address, and email should also be provided.
  4. The article should be preceded by a single-paragraph abstract, which should be italicized, not exceeding 250 words. The keywords should not be less than four and not more than six per article for cataloging purposes.
  5. The reference style should be according to APA 7th

Submission and Review Process

  1. Manuscript for the review process should be submitted by email through editor@ajbam.com.ng
  2. The file format should be Ms word.
  3. Manuscripts will be submitted to independent reviewers. A policy of double blind peer review is followed. The editor will make the final decision on whether to publish an article.
  4. If approved subject to revision, the manuscript will be returned to the author(s) who will make the necessary corrections and re-submit same the editor.
  5. It is required the all authors have their draft articles reviewed for language proficiency before submitting them to the editors. The editors reserve the right to make minor editorial adjustments without consulting the author(s). The use of abbreviations should be avoided as far as possible.
  6. Footnotes should be avoided. Endnotes may be used, which should be consecutively numbered and listed at the end of the text, before the list of references.
  7. Since, AJBAM is a quarterly journal, manuscripts can be submitted up to the 25th of each last month of the quarter of a year.
  8. The review process may take approximately 10 to 14 days.
  9. As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submissions compliance with all of the above guidelines, submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

 

Publication Fees

The sum of N5,000 should be paid as an assessment fee to cover the cost of the editorial review report. Proof of payment should be submitted alongside the manuscript upon submission. The publication fee is 30,000 or $100 for foreign authors (per article), payable upon acceptance to cover the cost of production and uploading of the article to the journal website. The author(s) will receive written acknowledgment of the payment.

Editorial Ethics

AJBAM publishes peer-reviewed articles in business and management discipline and adheres to high standards of publication ethics to ensure the integrity and credibility of the research it publishes. Authors, reviewers, editors, and the editorial team are expected to comply with the following ethical guidelines:

 

Authorship and Originality

Authors should ensure that their submitted work is original and has not been published elsewhere. All individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be listed as authors, and those who have not should be acknowledged appropriately. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and will result in immediate rejection of the manuscript. Our acceptable similarity index is 15%, authors should ensure that their articles meet this criterion.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.

Reviewers and editors should also declare any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where such conflicts exist.

Peer Review Process

Peer review is a crucial component of the publication process. Reviewers should provide fair, constructive, and timely feedback on manuscripts. Editors are responsible for ensuring a rigorous and impartial peer review process.

Accuracy and Transparency

Authors should provide accurate and complete information in their manuscripts. Data and results should be presented honestly and transparently, with any limitations clearly acknowledged. Any errors or inaccuracies discovered after publication should be promptly corrected with appropriate errata or retractions.

Ethical Treatment of Subjects

Research involving human subjects or animals must adhere to ethical guidelines and obtain appropriate approvals from relevant ethics committees. Informed consent should be obtained from participants, and their privacy and confidentiality should be protected.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors should properly cite all sources used in their research and avoid self-plagiarism. Permission should be obtained for the use of copyrighted materials, and proper attribution should be given.

Responsibility of Editors

Editors are responsible for making fair and unbiased decisions based on the quality and merit of the research. They should handle manuscripts confidentially and ensure that all submissions undergo a thorough and transparent review process.

Publication Ethics Violations

Any violations of publication ethics, including plagiarism, falsification of data, or unethical behavior, will be taken seriously and may result in retraction of published articles or other appropriate actions.

 

Data Access and Retention

Authors should make all relevant data underlying their research findings publicly available, where possible, to ensure transparency and reproducibility. Data should be deposited in appropriate repositories or archives and referenced in the manuscript.

Authors are responsible for retaining the original data supporting their research for a reasonable period after publication. This ensures that data can be accessed for verification or further analysis if needed.

Authors should provide clear instructions on how to access the data supporting their research, including any restrictions on access or conditions for use. They should also ensure that data are provided in a format that is easily understandable and usable by other researchers.

Multiple Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript or substantial parts of it to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting duplicate or redundant publications is considered unethical and may result in rejection or retraction of the manuscript.

Cross-Referencing

Authors should disclose any previous publications or submissions related to the research presented in the manuscript, including conference presentations, preprints, or other forms of dissemination. Proper acknowledgment and citation of previous work are essential to avoid allegations of duplicate publication.

 

Retraction

In cases where errors or inaccuracies are discovered after publication, authors should promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate fully in issuing corrections or retractions as necessary. Retractions should be issued if research misconduct or serious errors are identified that invalidate the findings of the published article.
