THE IMPACT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY AS A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FOR SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA

Abstract

Nigeria, despite its abundant energy resources, faces a persistent energy crisis, with millions of citizens and businesses experiencing unreliable access to electricity. This study investigates the “impact of Renewable Energy as a sustainable energy for Socio-economic and Environmental Development in Nigeria, using A Kingstech Solar Energy Nig. Limited as a case study. The research utilized a descriptive design, with a population consisting of 456 employees at Kingstech Solar Energy Nig. Limited. A sample size of 213 respondents was determined using the Yamane statistical method. Data collection was carried out through a structured questionnaire, and the study employed a simple random sampling technique. The validity and reliability of the instrument were assessed using Cronbach’s alpha, yielding an average score of 0.7. Data analysis was performed using simple regression analysis with SPSS version 27.0 to test the hypotheses. The findings indicated that access to renewable energy provided by Kingstech Solar Energy Nig. Limited does have a significant effect on the quality of life improvement of communities in Nigeria. The study concluded that access to renewable energy provided by Kingstech Solar Energy Nig. Limited significantly enhances the quality of life in communities across Nigeria, contributing to improved living standards, socio-economic development, and environmental sustainability. It was recommended that Kingstech Solar Energy Nig. Limited should enhance its community outreach efforts to raise awareness about the benefits of renewable energy. Hosting workshops and informational sessions can assist in informing prospective customers about the benefits of solar energy and addressing any concerns they might have.
